i decided to complete day 2. haha. don't want to just leave it hanging. so as i was saying. we were on our way to whale watch! on the way. we saw this old couple relaxing. what a place to do that right. sweeet:)but the scenery has to be awesome for that to happen. just look at this. it looks sooo photoshop-ed.amazing huh.here we are. happily in the sun.while waiting to be fetched to the port. we explored a little and discovered some tracks.and finally we board te-ao-marama.thought we saw white rocks. but they are actually covered with bird poop. eeeew. lots of seagull poop. the sea was nice and clear.
and the view was just amazing! the sea. the mountains. the sky. new zealand is in abundance of it. all the time.it was after awhile that we spot a log looking thing.and as we went nearer. everyone got excited! because it's a WHALE! the sperm whale. this is its back view. it looks rather small for a 18metres creature. and do you know that its head takes up 1/3 of body. a super big head huh!!then squirt squirt it goes.squirt squirt it goes again. this went on for awhile before it decided to dive down into the ocean. at this point. the photographer plays a very important role. haha. because this only happens once. the man did a pretty good job:) watch the tail go.and disappear forever.this is the trail of the boat. i thought it was a rather pretty sight. it was going zig-zag. it was freezing cold with the wind! but what we were about to see next wiped me off my feet.DOLPHINS DOLPHINS DOLPHINS!! there were millions of them. the dusky dolphins. it was pretty difficult to catch them in action. they were swimming in pretty fast speed. and some came really close. such lovely creations:)jumping and bouncing off the water. what a sight:)feel free to just click on the pictures. very pretty. enlarge them if you wish:) i enjoyed the dolphins more than the whales. haha. whales are just floating and floating. and what we can do is just wait. but dolphins are so captivating! my gosh. you can see baby dolphins too. and they are much more prettier in the vast ocean. i cannot emphasize more how wonderful these pretty things are:) following on. we were to a seal colony nearby. it was a upclose and personal encounter. most of them were sleeping soundly. looking very peaceful. i love this picture! this seal somehow looks full of motherly love.this grumpy looking seal just woke up. haha. must be too many people taking photos. grouchy grouchy. we stood quite far away from this seal. a very fierce seal i must say. was roaring at us. haha. scared me. i was running away from it after the photo.the rest were rather friendly:)to end the day. we tried seafood chowder from a roadside stall.this was our scenery. all the silly goats trying to climb to the top. it was dangerously steep. a few of them stumble and nearly slipped. this sweet lady prepared our food. she's cooking crayfish. smells great. but so expensive! 30+ bucks for one. madness!we enjoyed our seafood chowder more. haha.for those who have the new zealand lonely planet book. you will find this familiar:) we looked high and low for this. it was hidden beside a bookshop. glad that we found it.that's the end of day 2. kaikoura is a beautiful place. and definitely the place to whale watch:)
