whatipu beach. home cooked food.
konnichiwa! watashi wa wejing desu:) introducing to you: whatipu beach. its about 40minutes drive away. but the road to it is unsealed. meaning to say. it is not done up. so basically. we driving on rocks and sand and grains and what-nots.
this is the car that we rented. me sharon and xiaoyun drove.we went to see the rest learn kite fishing. it was a rocky and whiny way there. but im glad at the end of it. we were safe and sound.
this is to show you how terrible the sun was. and the ground reads "whatipu". proudly done by me:)it was quite a walk from the carpark. but the view was pretty.finally. we reached! it was a superb view.look at that! the whole area was just made up of: bare land. some cave like structures. the neverending sea.haha. and there sits gozilla! see the resemblance? haha. sharon says its kingkong while xiaoyun argues its a frog. lol.
as whatipu beach was quite secluded. there were only a few humans around. less than 15 actually. two were playing in the sandy water. having a mud bath.another family was playing some ball games. how sweet right. all dressed in red. happy family:)then there has to be a cute little dog named barcadi. its the real name ok! haha. adorable. the owner was coaching poor barcadi to swim. and it was freezing cold! though sunny. it was shivering badly when it got out of the water. and frantically barking. poor fella. tsk.many came to fish. so lovely ah the dad and son. can you see a small and big fishing rod? sweetness.and here we are. me sharon and xiaoyun. heh. sharon's my primary school friend! such a coincidence to meet here:)we are sitting in the middle of nowhere. its not that we like the sun. we just cant avoid it! tsk! so after our packed subway lunch. while waiting for the fish to get conned. we decided to do a bit of studying. haha. hardworking singaporeans huh! lol. im trying to memorise the japanese characters. still trying hard. then obviously. i got a little bored and started taking random pictures. my wonderful birthday gift.and the owner of the wonderful gift.soaking them in the freezing water. massage therapy.and how can i miss out my beloved sun. lol.now for some serious fishing. i know no details. just watched. the "teacher" is neil. teaching them the techniques of fishing.here's the bait. poor sotongs. they are used because everything eats them.and neil throwing the bait out into the sea.well. that's just normal fishing. now this is kite fishing. basically. you use a kite to pull your bait further out into the sea. it makes your chances of a catch much higher. but of course. the wind direction must be right.im holding on to the kite. what you can see are the markers. the flag and the bottle. so you know where your bait is.ta-da! here's the kite.and since your going against the wind. you need strength to work it.fishing takes awhile. so i started exploring the beach. it was filled with seashells. so many many! and each time the wave comes and goes. the sounds made by the seashells is so magical. i really love it. too bad the sound of the wave is too overwhelming or i would have recorded it down. simply wonderous:) we got a little hungry then and snacked. me with my prawn crackers and sharon with her walnut muffin.finally! wala! 3 fishes were caught. look at the satisfaction on their faces.haha. and bubbly andrea attempting to eat it raw.the fishes were still alive and jumping around. so i kept a safe distance from them. haha.and the day ends with a good catch and a beautiful sunset.exhausted and burnt. we were all ready to go. once again. we drove through the whiny unsealed road. and look at what it has done to the car. so dirty. yikes.anyways. back at home. me and ian were cleaning the fish. i was getting rid of the scales. me giving the killer look. haha.and ian was cutting them up. gross. all the guts and organs. but he looks happy to do that.-end of the fishy story-
it's home cooked food time! haha. it was wanxuan's turn to cook next. her yummy dish. chicken and mushroom in cream sauce.and nice vegggie! brocoli and carrots on oyster sauce.and lastly. the fish they caught. haha. i just fried it with a mixture of seasonings. what mama taught me. doing her proud. it was fresh. pretty good besides the presentation part. haha.ta-da! everyone ate their fill. nothing was left:)o yes. and before xuan's turn. it was mine. i cooked shaghetti. plus nachos with cheese. looks fine right maggie? haha.
i think we will all be fine cooks when we return to singapore. just wait and see. haha.
