south island: greymouth. christchurch:)
-DAY 7- still remember our campervan? genesis. a really cosy home:)we were still at shining stars. our accommodation in hotikika. this is the area where the animals are. it was very windy and drizzling! one of the goats we fed last night. taking shelter in the little hut.the many ducks in a pond.the llamas! one black and one brown. 1st time im seeing coloured ones. i always thought they were only in white.and THE dog. heh. a gigantic one! initially i was a little intimidated by his size. but when i placed my hand on him. he immediately lay down lazily. and waited for me to sayang him. so sweeeet~a closer look at him. i want a dog too!:) but a pity my mama's afraid of them. sigh. we then went to the glow worm dell. but it was too bright to see anything! sadly! we did attempt go there late last night. but looking at the entrance was already too eerie and dark. let alone entering. no lights at all! complete blackness. 3 steps in and i had to leave. my fear without a doubt. totally overwhelmed my desire to see the glow worms. so we were happy to be there the next morning anyways. haha.ta-da! this is a overview of shining stars. it's those green roofs on the right hand side. right beside the beach. so pretty. but its really chilly though. nevertheless. a great place to spend your night. i like it lots lots!the agenda of today was to just drive back to christchurch. got a morning flight back to auckland the next day. so on the way. we dropped by greymouth to have our lunch. hot chocolate is a must for such a cold day. we were at bonzai pizzeria. had pizza of course! hawaiian. and sweet and sour fish with rice. a little too sourish though. good meal nevertheless:)and we discovered this really cool public toilet! gosh. i was totally amazed!! haha. it is SUPER high tech. upon entering the toilet. it greets you! my gosh. never in my life was i greeted by a toilet! haha. sweet.
there's a button to TOUCH to lock and unlock. i emphasis the word touch. haha. and after locking the toilet. it gives instructions and music is played after that. haha. while you are pee-ing. there's music accompanying you! and while you are washing your hand. it flushes the toilet for you! haha. o yes! i forgot about the toilet paper. super high tech. you put your hand there and it comes rolling out. haha. i was so impressed and satisfied with it:)
it's not that this is something special or new. but it is amazing that for a public toilet. they would invest such money. one thing i love new zealand is the toilets. they are all SUPER clean and ALWAYS has toilet paper. seriously!! haha. no matter where you are. i salute!and not forgetting all the overpopulated sheeps. yes. we always see this while driving. but sheeps are always eating or sleeping. what a life!and many many cows too. not too friendly though.here are some pictures of the road. it can be a little curvy at times. going up hill and down hill. and usually. there are no street lights. so please do not drive at night. but the drivers in south island are generally very polite:) giving way most of the time. unlike in auckland. the drivers would run a pedestrian down anytime.and the beautiful backdrop is always with you:)
also. there are many places to stop over. due to the long driving times. very thoughtful!so we did stop over at some places. one of which i fed the ducks! haha.and of course enjoyed the scenery:)shortly. we were back at christchurch safe and sound. and that marks the end of my midsemester break. 1 week in south island. enjoyable time of activities. and the full indulgence of precious mother nature:)
